Some things I'd like to remember from 2025
A smattering of the holy moments in this life I'm living and some reflective prompts for you to use too!
Earlier this month, an old journal of mine surfaced. In it were some precious memories from when the girls were quite small. Just simple notes really - like a quote from Nella calling Mia a “goofy-ball” or Mia’s word for water - “Lalow” and a note about how we all started saying “Lalow” that year.
That precious list served as a timely reminder of the power of reflection and writing memories because I had completely forgotten about most of what that list contained.
So today, I have a few prompts for reflection and with them, my answers. Reflection is a powerful practice for integrating the experiences of new life, discovering insight and making meaning for the future. If you feel so led, I’d love to hear your answers to any or all of these questions as well! Enjoy the process.
Prompt One: What are some things you feel thankful to have gotten to take a part in this year?
Prompt 2: Share about some of the holy ordinary moments you experienced.
Prompt: What are some things you read, watched or listened to that you’d love to share with others from this year? I finished 53 books this year. Many were on the required reading list for TC20, and many were books read for pleasure. I’ll share a few from each category, plus a thing or two I watched and listened to.
I’ve been working on this post for awhile now. Both in my mind and in my actual morning. I have a sweet 12 year old who needs my presence, and so this is where I finish up.
Prompt 4: What are some moments worth putting in words so you can look back on them one day in the future?
A fun ending to 2025 - Sam and the girls got me a ping-pong table for Christmas. Won’t you come and play?!
P.S. I didn’t get to write the final reflection I’d hoped to - the one where I would speak the names of loved ones who’ve joined the great cloud of witnesses this year. They cheer us on still; carried within us as we keep going.
Christine Boye. Darlene Lewis. Linda Jeffers. Steve Rippy. Kathy Bowman.
Loved and missed by many each day.
Feel free to speak the names of your beloveds in the comment section below.

I had many a holy moment, sitting around the outdoor fire last year – whether with close friends or new ones – something about a fire makes it a sacred space.
I discovered author Kristen Hannah this last year. She wrote the book The Women as well as The Great Alone. Both excellent novels.
I would LOVE to come play ping-pong with you, but I fear it would be fairly one-sided ha ha ha ha ha! It might be funny to watch me swinging wildly though looking for the ball!
